Background & History

Solutions of North Texas, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization

is specifically designed to combat alcoholism and/or drug addiction in North Texas. We specialize in working with men and women who have failed at sobriety a number of times. They have often graduated from a number of treatment centers and have often violated a number of drug/alcohol laws which often means prior arrests and incarcerations.

SONTX  works only with men and women who are aware of their addiction and have indicated a willingness and desire to make a permanent change in their lives.  Each individual is then assessed, aided in obtaining gainful employment, and guided toward financial accountability and independence.  They are taught to pay their own way with money that they earn.  A two-fold system meets all their needs and long-term recovery.  Residents are taught how to stay sober permanently and how to live as happy independent adults.  This is the ultimate goal of our residential program.

SONTX, started as an entity of Love In Action, Intl, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in Dallas, TX, with the understanding that once SONTX celebrated a third year of operation, SONTX would move towards independence as a stand-alone 501 (c)(3),apart from Love In Action Intl, Inc. In September of 2009, North Texas Solutions for Recovery, Inc. was legally formed and recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501 (c)(3) Charitable Organization. On January 1st 2010, Solutions of North Texas officially operated under North Texas Solutions for Recovery Inc.

SONTX opened its first 10 bed facility for men in May of 2006 and grew into a 24 bed facility in one short year.  In February 2007, SONTX started its women’s program with 9 beds. SONTX now has 42 beds for men and women.  In 2011 programs are vast, including life skills, job search/resume writing, savings plans, indigent program, counseling, doctor visits, drug and alcohol evaluations, volunteerism, pc training, family program and workshops, and much more.

SONTX executive staff, managers and Board of Directors have more than 65 years of experience with addictions and recovery.  Scott Wisenbaker, SONTX Executive Director, has more than 16 years experience alone working in hospitals, treatment centers and jails.  His experience led to the creation of SONTX and he is now a recognized, published leader in the industry.  Due to the progressive programs at SONTX, not only is the staff experienced and knowledgeable but they are sought after for industry direction, benchmarking and advise.
